Look: Panthers owner David Tepper checks in on bubble construction

One year ago, David Tepper’s bid to buy the Panthers from disgraced owner Jerry Richardson was approved by the NFL. Since taking over the franchise, Tepper’s influence has been seeping in to every part of the business. From a nascent analytics department to new additions for the Hall of Honor, Tepper clearly has his eye on making his team better in every way.

The most visible example of the change is next to Carolina’s practice fields, which have been exposed to the elements since the team’s inception in 1995. Last season, the Panthers had to cancel several practices due to inclement weather and their record in the games following was not good.

Tepper has previously promised that a bubble will be constructed and ready in time for the 2019 preseason. By the looks of it, a lot of progress has been made. Here’s Tepper checking out the work at today’s OTA practices.

The bubble will serve as the Panthers’ practice home for the next couple of years until they relocate to a new facility in South Carolina. The state is set to gift $115 million in tax breaks to the team in order for them to move to a location in Rock Hill.
