Michigan State Basketball won a physical, intense game against No. 5 Illinois earlier this week to earn some much-needed optimism for the season. During the game, Mady Sissoko was ejected for committing a Flagrant 2 foul on Illinois star Ayo Dosunmu.
On Thursday, it was revealed that the foul resulted in a broken nose for Dosunmu. Illinois fans quickly jumped on Twitter to criticize Sissoko and call him practically every name in the book. Naturally, MSU fans jumped in to defend Sissoko.
On the next page, we will first look at Illinois’ criticism of Sissoko. Then we’ll show you how Spartan nation showed up to defend him.
ILLINOIS FAN CRITICISM OF SISSOKO —–>
This Mady Sissoko guy from Michigan State need to be permanently banned from college hoops…. and those officials should be yanked for the remainder of the season…… https://t.co/C1qbGgoyax

If we play MSU in the Big Ten Tournament, motion to sub in @randolph_22 for a few quick ones

One broadcaster had to later apologize and delete a tweet where he called Sissoko a “thug”:

Just made aware of some issues with an earlier tweet— I used too strong a word and I apologize to the MSU player in question and to any who may have been offended by this. Not aware in any way that the word had any racial connotation to it— that’s not me, never has been.

That dude is a frickin' thug. He was trying to hurt Ayo. Bullshit play.
— Dave Wischnowsky (@wischlist) February 24, 2021
Cheap shot from a dirty program and bad school but Big Ten accountable for allowing a dirty program with no talent to have a strategy to cheap shot and flagrant foul all game.

Ummm, 12 on his ACT like most MSU grads
— Pat Basu, MD, MBA (@patbasu) February 25, 2021
Just sad. the lack of accountability is the worst part. Likely these same officials will be working tonight and again this weekend. https://t.co/2vtXvWfNuG

Take a look at Mady Sissoko’s stat line: 9 minutes, zero shots, zero rebounds, zero points, three fouls.
He was on the court for one reason on Tuesday night: To “street fight.” pic.twitter.com/FaA5TEhGl3
— Dave Wischnowsky (@wischlist) February 25, 2021
Everything I'm hearing confirms, most, of this. I don't expect him to be out until the B1G tourney, but Ayo Dosunmu likely will miss a few games.
This is the play by Mady Sissoko, THAT WASN'T EVEN CALLED A FOUL initially. Fix your referees, @bigten. https://t.co/VJlSDqiST0 https://t.co/lZrP9VsSVP

Me: Nice, Illinois has a shot at the Big Ten Title and finally will get to play Michigan in a pretty important game next week

.@MSU_Basketball Coach Tom Izzo should be suspended, and Mady Sissoko's season should be over. Cheap shots like this were part of MSU's strategy on Tuesday night, and Izzo praised it as a "street fight" after the game. @bigten officials have to stop this sort of thing. https://t.co/VDLH4OSwyB
— Gordy Hulten (@gordyhulten) February 25, 2021
Is this what you call a street fight, Tom?

I know I have sensible Illinois fans following me. Y’all can’t be serious with all this outrage over Mady Sissoko. You have actual Godzilla on your team. It’s Big Ten basketball!
— Brandon Champion (@BrandonthaChamp) February 25, 2021
Mady was going for a block before Ayo got stripped (again) .3 seconds before impact.
What was Kofi doing here?
I’ve been looking for just one (1) Illinois fan to explain this. Where are they? pic.twitter.com/lj9LOSXHaK

At the end of the day, Illinois fans simply don’t realize how ignorant they’re being.
Mady Sissoko is genuinely the sweetest guy ever, but they wouldn’t know that because they hadn’t heard of him until Tuesday.
They just see a huge, powerful center and assume he’s an asshole.

I have a feeling that all this stuff getting said about Mady Sissoko is going to further galvanize this team.

Sorry I'm too busy to talk trash with Illinois basketball fans. I have to go take their last Sweet 16 appearance to get its driver's license.
