LaMelo Ball has long been a popular prospect but his emergence with the Charlotte Hornets has made him one of the most popular athletes in America. The most recent evidence of that came on Thursday during MLB’s Opening Day.
Highly-rated Miami Marlins prospect Jazz Chisholm arrived at Thursday’s Opening Day game against the Tampa Bay Rays in a LaMelo Ball purple Hornets jersey. The Marlins shared the picture of his arrival on a series of photos of players arriving at the stadium for Opening Day on Instagram and LaMelo Ball shared the picture on his Instagram Story.
Chisholm, who was born in the Bahamas and joined the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2015 as an international free agent, has no apparent ties to the Charlotte area. That he sported a Ball Hornets jersey before the game, then, further shows how much the Hornets brand has grown and will continue to grow with Ball as the face of the franchise.
