LOOK: Jets OT Mekhi Becton signs his rookie deal

Mekhi Becton was all smiles Monday afternoon when he officially became a member of the New York Jets.

The hulking offensive lineman shared a picture of himself signing his first NFL contract, a four-year deal with a fifth-year option. Becton’s rookie deal is worth a fully guaranteed $18.45 million, so head plenty of reasons to be happy.

The first round pick out of the University of Louisville hinted that he was in New Jersey, but he wasn’t officially a Jet until the 6-foot-7, 363-pound left tackle put pen to paper.

If the picture of him signing his contract is any indication, Becton is excited to be Sam Darnold’s blindside protector for the foreseeable future. He is expected to start immediately at left tackle and make life easier for Darnold and Le’Veon Bell.

After being selected with the 11th pick in April’s draft, Becton told Joe Douglas over the phone, “I’m ready! Let’s go!” With Becton aboard, he’s certainly ready to get started as rookies officially reported to training camp on Tuesday.
