The Jacksonville Jaguars and Jacksonville city officials have been working hard this week when it comes to collaborating. On Wednesday, the City Council unanimously approved Shad Khan’s plans to develop the shipyards. Then on Thursday, The Downtown Development Review Board approved the design of the Jags’ Sports Performance Center.
The vote towards approving the final design was unanimous and totaled a 6-0 figure. The design plan was created by architecture, interior, and planning firm ROSSETTI, which is based in Detroit. The group specializes in sports entertainment facilities design and recently designed the Miami Dolphins’ new practice facility.
The Jags’ new 127,087-square-foot facility will allow the players and coaches to move out of TIAA Bank Field for football operations. It will include two outdoor fields, a new indoor practice facility, roughly 2,300 bleacher seats for fans to spectate from, a team store, and concession facilities. The football operations building itself will be a two-level building that has locker, meeting, training, and weight rooms.

The DDRB also unanimously voted to grant conceptual approval to Khan’s Four Seasons-centered project, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record. The voting figure on that was 7-0. As mentioned in the past, the project will include a multi-story hotel building (likely a Four Seasons hotel), a six-story Class A office building, and marina support.
