Look inside the incredible Van Gogh Alive experience as it arrives in Greater Manchester

One of the most hotly-anticipated cultural attractions of the year has finally arrived in Greater Manchester this week.

Van Gogh Alive, already seen by more than eight million people worldwide, will officially open its doors in Salford on Friday October 22.

The immersive experience has turned some of the artist's most famous works into three-dimensional art pieces, allowing you to step inside his paintings.

A huge purpose-built venue has been built on the piazza at MediaCityUK for the occasion.

Visitors are welcomed into a gallery space which explains the history behind some of Vincent Van Gogh's paintings, and outlines the history of his troubled life.

The entrance also includes a new 3D replica of his painting Bedroom in Arles, with the team creating a purple bedroom that looks exactly like the original artwork.

You can step inside the room and pose for photos in the room before heading through to the main gallery space.

Here, massive 360-degree screens - including screens underfoot - project Van Gogh's paintings all around.

There are excerpts from his diaries and letters too, and animations that compliment his incredible work.

Classical music is piped through the speakers, and scents inspired by Provence, where he created many of his paintings, are diffused into the air.

Some of his most iconic art works, including Starry Night and Sunflowers, have been recreated using state-of-the-art SENSORY4™ immersive gallery technology.

Van Gogh Alive is supporting The Christie charity, and will be raising funds through the experience - visitors will have the opportunity to donate while purchasing tickets or at the experience itself to support The Christie's work in cancer care, research and education.

The experience also includes the Sunflower selfie room, mirrored on all sides and filled with hundreds of sunflowers.

Van Gogh Alive is open between October 22 and January 23 at MediaCityUK. Tickets are available at vangoghaliveuk.com/mediacity.
