Look inside an exquisite Merseyside, 17-bedroom stately home

These stunning images offer a glimpse into one of Merseyside's most exquisite stately homes.

Listed in 1952, Knowsley Hall is the ancestral home of the Stanley family, the Earls of Derby.

Behind the main gates of the Knowsley Estate, the 17-bedroom property sits on some 2,500 acres of picturesque country land and is known for its magnificent Georgian facade.

The history of the Earls of Derby spans back across key events in history, such as the Battle of Bosworth and the property still incorporates some of its original structure which dates back to the 15th century.

Knowsley Hall opened its doors this month for tours of the building and an exhibition featuring equestrian paintings from the family, entitled A Passion for the Turf.

These images offer another glimpse of the interior of the Grade II-listed building - and are captioned with interesting facts that you may not have heard of about the historic property.

From the elegant State Dining Room to the magnificent Grand Staircase, the interior of Knowsley Hall contains elements of Corolean style panelling in the Entrance Hall, Louis XIV-style boiserie in walnut in the Walnut Drawing Room, 17th century family portraits in the Morning Room and so much more.
