Look: Chargers rookies attend Angels’ game, QB Easton Stick throws first pitch

It’s nothing new when NFL rookies get the professional treatment as soon as they get into the league. In this case, the Chargers 2019 rookie class was welcomed to Angel Stadium on Wednesday.

They just so happened to pick the perfect game to go to, as well. The Angels defeated the Oakland A’s in walk-off fashion when catcher Dustin Garneau hit a ground-rule double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to bring in outfielder Brian Goodwin to seal the deal, 10-9.

Prior to the game, Quarterback Easton Stick received the honors of throwing out the first pitch. Stick has some nice zip when throwing a football but in this case, the pitch wasn’t a dart by any means. Instead, he lobbed it in there, placing it high and way off from being a strike. The throw garnered some laughs from the other rookies.

Los Angeles begins mandatory minicamp on June 11. The majority of them will be participating with the exception of defensive tackle Jerry Tillery, who is coming back from a shoulder injury, and possibly free safety Nasir Adderley.
