Look: Alex Smith makes an appearance at Redskins training camp

Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith made an appearance at training camp Friday.

As seen in the video above courtesy of NBC Sports, Smith is still on crutches but made a point to link up with fans who asked.

It wasn’t unexpected that Smith would turn up, of course. He’s said he’ll still be around the team and is more than willing to help along rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins in his development.

But a year ago, Smith was walking into the same camp as the next star quarterback of the Redskins after coming over from Kansas City. He suffered a leg injury that will sideline him for all of this season, at least.

The good news is Smith had an external fixator removed from his leg recently and is clearly in great spirits around the team:
