Lonzo Ball will play Sunday against Thunder

The New Orleans Pelicans have updated the status of Lonzo Ball.

Ball was initially listed as questionable after dealing with a stomach virus, but Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry updated the guard’s status just after 2:30 p.m. CT Sunday.

Ball did not play in the Pelicans’ loss to Oklahoma City on Friday night and had missed the previous two games due to illness.

New Orleans also announced that Ball will return to the starting lineup after recently serving as a reserve. Sunday will be the ninth start this season for the third-year guard. In 11 games so far this season, Ball is averaging 11.1 points and 5.7 assists in 27.1 minutes per game.

Ball will take the place of Kenrich Williams who is out Sunday dealing with an ankle injury.

Williams did not score in the Thunder’s 109-104 win two days ago, and played only seven minutes, taking just one shot from the field.

The Thunder and Pelicans will tip-off inside the Smoothie King Center at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
