Lonzo Ball thinks Lakers, Clippers are balanced: ‘It can go either way’

While no longer part of the Battle for Los Angeles, Lonzo Ball had some thoughts on who would be the better side between the Lakers and Clippers. Ball’s exit from Los Angeles directly led to the creation of the super team in purple and gold with LeBron James and Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard and Paul George’s arrivals to the Clippers sets up the biggest battle for Los Angeles in the league’s history.

During a radio interview this summer with Big Boy, Ball was asked who he thought will have a better season between the Lakers and Clippers.

“That’s a tough one. I got asked that at the ESPYs and I was like, ‘I don’t know.’ To me, it’s balanced. You got ‘Bron and A.D. and then you got Kawhi and Paul George, so it’s like, it can go either way.

Given the fact Ball grew up in Los Angeles as a Laker fan, it’s interesting he did not pick the Lakers. Why he didn’t could be answered a number of ways. Cynical fans may think he holds a grudge with the Lakers. It’d be hard to fault him as he recently revealed that he knew he would be traded after his season-ending injury last year.

More rational fans might suggest that it really is a close battle and Ball doesn’t want to appear to be a fan of any team as he is in the league now. It could lead to some interesting match-ups and storylines this season and particularly in the playoffs should the Pelicans make it.
