Lonzo Ball selected No. 4 in Blecher Report 2017 NBA re-draft

Re-draft’s are a fun way to truly analyze the strength or weakness of a draft class and see where team’s selected a future bust for a future star.

Bleacher Report recently ran through a re-draft for the 2017 NBA draft, where Celtics star Jayson Tatum jumped up to the No. 1 overall pick to the Philadelphia 76ers.

For new Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball, he was selected with the No. 4 pick to the Phoenix Suns, moving down two slots from his actual draft position to the Los Angeles Lakers with the No. 2 pick, which selected Jazz star Donovan Mitchell in the re-draft.

Andy Bailey of B/R explains:

“For the first two years of his career, the almost constant refrain for analysis of Lonzo Ball went something like this: If only he could shoot.

Pretty much every other box was checked, though. At 6’6″, Ball could defend multiple positions. He was one of the game’s best hit-ahead passers. His vision was way better than his experience level suggested it should be. He was even a plus rebounder for a guard.

If only he could shoot.

Then, following a trade to the New Orleans Pelicans, Ball seemingly rectified that issue. In his two seasons with the Pelicans, Ball attempted 7.2 threes per game and shot 37.6 percent from three.”
