Lonzo Ball says shot feels more consistent this season with Pelicans

The early returns on Lonzo Ball’s reformed jump shot have been positive this season with the New Orleans Pelicans. After spending the summer working on his jumper, Ball is shooting a career-best 36.7 percent from the three-point line through the team’s first seven games.

During shootaround before Friday’s game against the Toronto Raptors, Ball talked about the difference in his shot between this season and last.

“My shot is more consistent. It feels the same throughout the game, instead of how I had it last year, where it was adjusted throughout the game.”

While Ball’s start to the season has been objectively good for the Pelicans this season, it should also be noted this isn’t the first time he’s had a strong start shooting the ball. Last season through the opening 10 games, Ball shot 41.3 percent from three.

The difference between the two seasons, though, likely comes down to his jumper and the consistency of it. However, it’ll require more than a seven- or even ten-game sample size for fans to know whether his shot is truly changed for the better.
