Lonzo Ball says LaMelo Ball leans on him for advice, guidance

The Ball brothers and family have always had a close bond. That bond is why Big Baller Brand was formed and also is the reason the brand still exists even in its current form. But as fractures between LaVar and his sons have begun to form, the three Ball brothers have only grown closer.

For Lonzo and LaMelo, a common bond of being professional basketball players, albeit it different leagues, has brought them even closer. During a podcast interview with Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN this summer, Lonzo spoke about his growing relationship with LaMelo.

“For sure, especially for Melo. I feel like he needs me now more than ever. This is the most he’s called me since we’ve been separated, pretty much. Those guys, I’ll help them with anything. It doesn’t have to be basketball. You can come to me for whatever. That’s what I’m here for. They’ve always looked up to me my whole life so I don’t think they’ll stop now.”

Considering Lonzo is the only person in the family with professional basketball experience, it makes sense that LaMelo leans on him for advice and guidance. Ball likely had to learn the hard way on many things, like improving his diet or taking care of his body.

The most recent episode of “Ball in the Family” showed how Lonzo was giving advice to LaMelo, though the latter wasn’t always receptive. Having someone in his ear telling him how things should be going will certainly lead to more good than bad and is a big positive for LaMelo as he goes through not only the process of playing professionally but the upcoming draft process.
