Lonzo Ball says it was ‘crazy’ to see LeBron’s work ethic up close

Perhaps nobody involved in the blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers has undergone more of a drastic change than former Lakers guard Lonzo Ball. After developing a strong connection with LeBron James last season, Ball was a key piece involved in the trade that got the Lakers superstar big man Anthony Davis. But Ball values his time with The King, still saying that he learned a lot from him months after the trade.

Ball was interviewed on BigBoyTV, where he discussed his experience of seeing LeBron’s work ethic up close on a daily basis.

“It was dope. I mean he was my favorite player growing up so it was a little different for me,” Ball said on Big Boy TV. “Just his work ethic. I mean, year 16, the way he was taking care of his body was crazy. I see why he’s in the league for so long and still playing at a high level.”

Ball’s comments aren’t that different from other young players who experience LeBron’s work-ethic for the first time. Cavs forward Cedi Osman said similar things after LeBron left the Cavs in the summer of 2018.

Perhaps the best thing for Ball is that the biggest spotlight on his team won’t be on him. With rookie Zion Williamson garnering headlines and primetime games, Ball will have an opportunity to play at a high-level but do so without being the biggest name on his team.
