Lonzo Ball says his favorite shoe to play NBA games in is Kobes

One of the perks of Big Baller Brand for Lonzo Ball has been the freedom for the guard to wear. In his first Summer League and at times in his rookie season, Ball wore all sorts of different brands. In his sophomore season, Ball stuck with his ZO2.19s for the entire season.

However, as Ball appears to be heading away from Big Baller Brand and to a new deal with another major shoe company, it was interesting to see recent comments in which Ball picked a specific type of Nike shoes as his favorite.

During his recent appearance on House of Highlights’ live show, Ball was asked what his favorite pair of non-Big Baller Brand shoes to hoop in was.

“Just switching every game. You know, at the time we had our own brand to kind of show people you can wear whatever shoe you want. There’s a lot of freedom over there. My personal favorite shoe is the Kobes, to play in. Ironically, I had my best game in them. But yeah, just showing people we could wear whatever we wanted.”

It’s yet another link between Ball and Nike, creating more and more smoke. Ball hasn’t officially left Big Baller Brand but signs indicate that’s just a matter of time. LeBron James, Nike’s current biggest star, grew close to Ball this year and gave encouraging words to him in the wake of his separation with Alan Foster.

Ball could command a large contract if he were to become a free agent in the shoe world. Adidas, Under Armor and Nike would line up for his services. If anyone has established themselves early on, though, it would clearly be Nike.
