Lonzo Ball says he reads mean comments on social media after bad games for motivation

During his two years, Lonzo Ball had many great games and many bad games with the Lakers. For many fans and the Lakers themselves, too many of the latter than the former partially led to his exit from Los Angeles.

How players handle their poor performances varies from player to player and person to person. With the growth of social media, many players choose to avoid the likes of Twitter and Instagram after poor games.

For Lonzo Ball, a different approach has been taken. During an interview with Big Boy on 92.3 RealFM, Ball talked about reading comments on social media after games.

I use it as motivation, honestly … I [read the comments] sometimes. If I play bad, I read it. I want to know so, like, next game I can go out there and do better. But that’s just me; everybody’s different.

It’s certainly an interesting approach for Ball to embrace and take in the negative comments. If he uses it as motivation as he said, it could be fuel to the fire. However, considering how Ball’s play typically goes up and down in longer spurts, it may have more of an effect on him that he’s willing to admit.

But each player can handle it their own way. Some of the best players in the league are often online (cough*KevinDurant*cough) and it doesn’t bother their play.
