On the heels of a public scandal, Big Baller Brand has plans of re-launching this fall with a new lifestyle shoe, according to the brand’s founder LaVar Ball. However, it’s still unclear whether or not the brand’s majority owner and face, Lonzo Ball, will be involved with the brand going forward.
In March, Lonzo deleted every mention of the Big Baller Brand from his Instagram, unfollowed the brand on all of his social media platforms and removed the BBB tattoo from his arm. While Lonzo still doesn’t follow his family’s brand on social media, he said that he still supports the Big Baller Brand in a recent interview with Real 92.3 LA.
“The brand is still up. I’m always going to support the brand because it’s my family, but as far as the logistics of it, I’m not sure.”
As for the tattoo, Lonzo said he regrets removing it.
“I was just so mad at the time, but like looking back at it, I shouldn’t have covered it up, but I did.”
Lonzo explained why he removed his Big Baller Brand tattoo during an appearance on HBO’s “The Shop” in May:
(Foster) was way more than (a business partner). People don’t understand how much he like….when I bought my mom and dad a house, he had a room. A room in there. The way I feel about it is different. That’s why I covered the BBB (tattoo) up on my arm. That’s why I covered the BBB (tattoo) up on my arm. Because like when I saw that, I saw him and that [expletive] made me, I was tight.
Lonzo’s recent comments might not indicate that he’ll be returning to the brand once they re-launch, but they provide a little more clarity on where he stands with his family and the brand.
