Lonzo Ball says he found out Lakers traded him through Twitter

It’s been a little over two months since the Los Angeles Lakers traded former No. 2 overall pick Lonzo Ball to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis, and for the first time since the trade, Ball shared how he found out he got traded.

During an appearance on Real 92.3 LA, Ball told legendary radio host Big Boy that he found out he was traded to the Pelicans like everyone else did: on Twitter.

Did you know that you were getting traded from the Lakers?

No, I found out on Twitter. We was in the car; we had just left my grandfather’s house on the way to Melo’s Drew League game and then DMO had told me like, “You seen Twitter?” And I’m like, “Nah,” and he was like, “We just got traded.” That how we found out … I don’t know everybody’s situation, but that’s how we all found out.

Ball also reiterated that he and his teammates expected to be traded after being a regular in the rumor mill over the last two years. However, despite the fact that he expected it, Ball said he took it personally when the Lakers traded him.

Do you take any of that personal?

I think you should. I mean like, they got rid of you, they don’t want you no more, so you got to take it personal.

Ball will have the opportunity to prove the Lakers wrong with a breakout junior campaign with the Pelicans next season alongside Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart, who are also Los Angeles rejects.
