Lonzo Ball says daughter’s birth changed his mindset on life

One of the most often-used cliches in life is how the birth of a child changes the outlook on one’s life. This has been the case for Lonzo Ball, who has often spoken of the impact his daughter’s arrival had on his life. On his appearance on teammate LeBron James’ “The Shop,” Ball talked once more about how Zoey’s birth led to him taking control of his life.

“I think when my daughter was born, that’s when it really clicked. Like ‘Yo, you got to start taking control’ just because now I’m not just doing [expletive] for me. Not for my mom or my dad that I love but I got to look out for a little one that’s mine, that I brought into the world. So, I mean, when she was born, that’s when I started thinking about it. And then, everything that just happened recently with Alan (Foster) and everything, that’s what kind of like woke me up.”

Ball has been adamant since his daughter’s birth how important she is in his life. Even during his break-up with high school sweetheart Denise Garcia, Ball maintained that Zoey’s future was what was most important.

For Ball, it appears to have been even more of a blessing in disguise as him looking to take control of his life likely led to finding out about the money laundering from Alan Foster. It’s also not surprising, given how important a role LaVar has played in his son’s lives, that Lonzo wants to have a big role in his daughters life.
