When Lonzo Ball was drafted with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, he earned an 80 overall rating on NBA 2K, tied with No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz for the highest rookie 2K rating off all time. This year, he’ll go into the season with an overall rating of 79, which is the same rating he received at the start of last season.
For context, De’Aaron Fox, who Ball has been linked to since the 2017 NBA Draft, was given an overall rating of 86. Even Derrick Rose has a higher overall rating (80) than Ball this year.
Luckily, ratings are updated throughout the year and Ball will have a chance to break 80 again throughout the season. If the New Orleans Pelicans get off to a hot start, there’s no reason he shouldn’t.
