Johnny Solinger, a longtime singer for the rock band Skid Row, has died at 55.
His death was confirmed by Skid Row, which announced in an Instagram post that Solinger died Saturday.
“We are saddened to hear the news of our brother Johnny Solinger,” the band’s post reads. “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans. Godspeed Singo.”
Solinger had the longest stint of any singer with Skid Row, performing with the band from Toms River, N.J., from 1999 to 2015.
Last month, the Dallas-born Solinger wrote on Facebook that he was battling liver failure and had been hospitalized for a month.
“And prognosis is not so good,” Solinger wrote at the time. “As with most musicians I do not have health insurance and it’s very difficult to get proper care without it.”
He continued, “I am currently under at least seven different medications and I need to have my abdomen drained off fluid that gets accumulated every couple of days. I have lost a lot of strength and will require physical therapy as well.”
Solinger sang on multiple albums with Skid Row, including 2003′s “Thickskin,” which featured “I Remember You Two,” a new rendition of the band’s 1989 hit “I Remember You.”
Skid Row, which launched in 1986, has featured ZP Theart as its singer since 2015.
An online fundraiser created in early May to support Solinger also confirmed his death and is now asking for donations to cover his funeral expenses.
