Longitude Festival 2019 Dublin: Fans praise 'great replacement' for ASAP Rocky on Friday night

Thousands of people gathered in Marlay park on Friday for a sunny evening at the opening day of the Longitude festival.

Fans from all around the country travelled to see some of their favourite performers including Versatille, Pusha-T and Rae Sremmurd but there was a cloud over day 1 following the shock announcement surrounding one of the main headliners.

ASAP Rocky did not perform as he was detained in Sweden on suspicion of assault.

ASAP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was due to headline the opening day at the Dublin festival and Wireless Festival in London on Sunday.

Promoters MCD said: "Due to the Swedish authorities decision to continue to detain A$AP Rocky, he will no longer be able to headline Longitude tonight.

"It’s not all bad news though, we are delighted to announce that Ski Mask The Slump God will close the main stage tonight instead!"

Although this came as a disappointment to plenty of fans, most did not let it dampen their moods.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, festival-goer Aaron Toohey said: "I was most looking forward to Versatille and they put on a great show.

“I wasn’t too disappointed ASAP Rocky couldn’t perform because they came up with a great replacement in Ski Mask the Slump Dog.”
