Long-term Nottingham Forest staff member recruited by England

Nottingham Forest have seen a key change in their staff setup.

Head of sports science Nathan Beardsley has recently left Forest to begin work with Eddie Jones' England Rugby squad.

Beardsley spent five years as Forest's first team sport scientist after joining the club as an intern eight years ago, and was a key part of head coach Sabri Lamouchi's staff at Forest.

As a sports scientist, Beardsley will have prepared strength and conditioning programmes for Forest's first-team squad while analysing performance and fitness data provided by GPS vests embedded into matchday and training gear. His team will have assisted players in preparing for the season during pre-season, while ensuring that Forest players recover well from matches and are physically prepared for them.

The Forest sports science team also have an important role in injury prevention, and will work with the team's physiotherapy staff to ensure that performance-related injuries are kept to a minimum.

Beardsley will now be focusing on England's Six Nation's opener after almost a decade spent helping Nottingham Forest improve on and off of the pitch.
