Long queues pictured at Edwalton McDonald's site

Traffic is building around a newly established retail park in Nottinghamshire.

Pictures show long queues forming at the site in Landmere Lane just off the A52 in Edwalton, where a McDonald's, Costa, and Greggs have been developed.

With limited options for weekend outings during lockdown, the pictures taken on Saturday afternoon (March 6) suggest a few people have had the same idea.

Cars can be seen snaking around the drive-thru area of McDonald's and out of the main entrance to the retail park.

A 25-year-old man, who lives off Rose Way, said: “The new retail park is extremely handy for neighbours who can nip to Aldi for their essentials.

“Unsurprisingly the McDonald’s has proved very popular and at peak times cars queuing for the Golden Arches add a slight wait for those leaving from Aldi, or arriving for the supermarket, who have to wait for the McDonald’s traffic to clear.

“It has been busier - particularly in better weather. And on a couple of occasions, my housemates and I decided against waiting for the Costa drive-through because the traffic becomes a bottleneck in that part of the retail park for Costa and McDonald’s.”

The McDonald's restaurant opened at the site in December last year, creating 80 new jobs.

Located next to the Wheatcroft Island, the restaurant was part of an £8m proposal by Henry-Davidson Developments.

A day nursery and three shops also formed part of the plan.

However, concerns were raised at the time of development about the impact on traffic in the area.
