Long queues at garden centre on second weekend of national lockdown

Customers formed a long queue for a Nottinghamshire garden centre on the second weekend of the country's lockdown.

A picture submitted by a reader shows a lengthy customer line over the weekend for the East Bridgford Garden Centre in Fosse Way.

Under the month-long national coronavirus restrictions, certain essential retail businesses are able to remain open - including garden centres and hardware stores.

The measures came into effect on Thursday, November 5, and are expected to last until at least December 2, to bring down the rate of new coronavirus infections.

It comes after managers of businesses which remain open in Nottingham city centre explained how they'd found the country's second lockdown so far.

As of Saturday, November 14, a total of 125 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the city of Nottingham in the latest Government daily figures, meaning 13,576 people living in the city have now tested positive for the virus since the start of the pandemic.

Elsewhere across the county, outside of the city, a further 376 people tested positive for the virus.

A total of 19,400 people living in the county - outside of the city of Nottingham - have tested positive for Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

Nottinghamshire Live has attempted to contact the garden centre for comment.
