Long Leeds Festival traffic delays as 6 miles of tailbacks hit A1M and several roads 'gridlocked'

There are long delays on roads across Leeds this morning as the mass exodus of bleary Leeds Festival 2021 campers take to the roads.

Drivers have been warned that there are 60-minute delays on the A1M Northbound, with 6.2 miles of slow-moving traffic clogging up the road.

Thorner Road is currently gridlocked, according to West Yorkshire Police.

There are also delays on the A64 with parts of the road closed off.

Many of the roads around Bramham Park are also covered in cones, with lane closures and hi-vis staff directing traffic away from the festival site.

Delays are expected in surrounding areas such as Scarcroft and Seacroft as people make their way out.

A tweet from Highways England said: "Please be aware that this #A1M northbound congestion is causing delays of 60 mins above normal journey time for this time of day.

"There is approx. 6.2 miles of slow moving traffic on approach. Please allow plenty of extra time for your journey if you are travelling in the area."
