Long Eaton man who attacked his mum three times found hiding in her wardrobe

A Long Eaton man was found hiding in his mum's wardrobe after breaking a restraining order that was put in place for attacking her three times.

Marc Betts, 47, of Northcote Street in Long Eaton, pleaded guilty to breaching his restraining order at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Betts had just come out of prison when he breached the order - which had been put in place until October 24, 2022, according to Derbyshire Live.

Lynn Bickley, prosecuting, said: "On December 12 at five to four in the afternoon police received a report that the defendant was at the cottages by a neighbour.

"When officers arrived they are allowed into the address by the mother and the defendant was found hiding in a wardrobe.

"He was arrested and interviewed by police, and answered no comment.”

Nick Wenden, defending, said: "This is clearly a breach of the restraining order, and his previous convictions list is not pleasant."

"He bumped into his mother and he had not seen her since.

"She invited him to the address. He does know he should not have gone.

"But he was desperate after just having come from prison and he wanted to try and make amends.”

District judge Jonathan Taaffe handed Betts a 26-week jail term. He also ordered him to pay a £122 victim surcharge.
