Long delays on M60 following multiple-vehicle crash

There were long delays on the M60 near Salford on Sunday evening following a multiple-vehicle crash.

Two lanes were shut after three vehicles collided on the clockwise stretch between junction 13 for Worsley and junction 14 for the East Lancashire Road.

One of the vehicles ended up spinning in the middle of the road following the collision, a Highways England spokesman said.

There was congestion stretching all the way back to junction 10 for the Trafford Centre in the aftermath of the crash, which happened at about 6pm.

A spokesman for Highways England said:  "The crash was between three cars. One of them ended up spinning around and facing the other way. We didn't have any reports of injuries."

The traffic body also tweeted about the smash just after 6.30pm, urging motorists to take care on the route.

The Highways England post said: "Two lanes are closed on the M60 clockwise due to a collision between junction 13 and junction 15 just prior to the exit for the northbound M61 at Kearsley.

"Please allow extra time for your journey and take care if travelling this route. Traffic Officers are en route."

Just after 7pm, Highways England tweeted an update to say that all lanes had reopened.
