Long delays after crash closes two lanes on M60 clockwise near Irlam

Emergency services have closed two lanes of the M60 after reports of a crash between three cars.

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the accident at junction 11 at Irlam shortly after 4pm on Sunday afternoon.

Tailbacks of around three miles have been reported, with traffic backing up to junction 8 for Carrington.

One woman is believed to have rescued herself from a vehicle.

It is not yet known if anybody was injured in the crash.

In a tweet, Highways England said: "Two lanes remain closed on the M60 clockwise at junction 11 for Irlam whilst the emergency services continue to work in the carriageway.

"There are just over three miles of very slow moving traffic from junction eight clockwise.

A spokesperson for Manchester Fire Service said: "We were called at 4.10pm to reports of a road traffic accident between three vehicles on the M60 near junction 11, clockwise.

"One woman had self-rescued herself from a vehicle."
