Long-awaited £3.7m Irvine nursery finally ready to accept registrations

Parents who want to enrol their children at a long-awaited £3.7m nursery in Irvine are being urged to register online now.

Marress House Early Years Centre is on course to open on August 23 - seven months later than planned - following the transformation of the town's former tax office.

The building will house a state-of-the-art early years centre, a professional learning and collaboration space, and CCTV and concierge accommodation.

Registration for the centre’s first-ever intake has now opened and will run until Tuesday, February 28..

Parents are asked to apply online at www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/elc-enrolment

Any parent who registers after the deadline may miss out on their preferred provider.

All, three and four-year-old children and eligible two-year0old children are entitled to 1,140 hours of early years education per year.

Councillor Shaun Macaulay, Cabinet Member for Education and Young People, said: “Our young children are entitled to the best possible start in life and that’s what our early years centres aim to provide.

“Transformation work on Marress House is continuing apace and we are already looking forward to welcoming children for the 2023 August term.

“If parents want to register their children for the new centre, we are asking them to apply as soon as possible.”

Ayrshire Live reported in May, 2022 how a delay in the handover of the building, caused by global supply chain issues, forced North Ayrshire Council to push back the planned opening date.

A number of different models of childcare are available for parents and these are fully explained in the Connecting Early Learning and Childcare Guide for Parents.
