Londoners hitting 'peak social media' as poll finds majority prefer printed pictures over online posts

Many Londoners have reached “peak social media” and want to record more of their special memories with physical photos rather than online posts, research has found.

Research suggests sixty-seven per cent of Londoners wish they had a printed copy of their special memories to glance at on the fridge or in an album instead of just having a picture buried in a mobile.

The survey of 2,000 showed people were tired of scrolling through to find important snaps.

Londoners were found to be 10 per cent more likely to want hard copies of their favourite pictures than the UK average.

In a bid to encourage more people to keep printed photos, singer Pixie Lott and other guests will pop up at the East Piazza of Covent Garden tomorrow and Wednesday to pose with visitors at a free “Ultimate Photo Booth”.

Passers by will be able to take home a printed copy of their celebrity selfie — and other prizes.

Ana Amura, marketing manager at Coca Cola Great Britain and Ireland, who carried out the research, said: “When it comes to capturing our magical memories, it seems we now prefer to have physical photos.

“While everyone loves taking lots of snaps, people want the special memories to be more permanent.”

The Covent Garden pop-up runs from midday to 7pm tomorrow and from 10am to 7pm on Wednesday.
