Londoners gathered for a moving vigil in Trafalgar Square tonight for a vigil to the victims of the New Zealand terror attack.
Crowds gathered with candles and held signs that read “Muslims against hatred”, “love will win, terror will lose” and “stop the voices of hate.”
The vigil for peace was organised by anti-terrorism campaign #TurnToLove and held a week on from the shootings at two mosques in Christchurch which left 50 people dead.
The youngest victim was three-year-old Mucab Ibrahim.
Dozens more were injured.
The High Commissioner of New Zealand Sir Jerry Mateparae attended the vigil alongside members of the Faiths Forum and London’s New Zealand and Muslim communities.
He thanked the British community for their support.
"An attack on one of our communities is an attack on all of us,” he said.
A message from Christchurch mayor Lianne Dalziel was read out.
She said: "What happened last Friday will never define us…what has happened since, the outpouring of love, that's what defines us.
"Our Muslim community does not stand alone…We all stand together."
