Welcome back to the Londoner’s Diary. First up we peruse Sotheby’s online auction house where they are selling NFTs, the artworld’s hottest trend. John le Carré’s friend John Banville tells us Carré would have reacted “with scorn” at Boris Johnson aligning himself with the spy novelist’s hero, George Smiley. Later today poet laureate Simon Armitage reveals his idea to save his craft and in SW1A Micheal Gove talks about a Treasury solicitor who didn’t turn up to work for 40 years and “nobody noticed”.
