Londoner’s Diary: The play’s the thing for Hilary Mantel as she adapts final Cromwell novel

Welcome back to the Londoner’s Diary. First up we learn that Hilary Mantel is working on a play based on her third and final Thomas Cromwell novel. Later today Geoff Norcott warns of a rise in Right-wing “snowflakery” and John Preston, who wrote a book on Robert Maxwell admits that his view on Ghislaine is “unfashionable”. In SW1A today Jim Fitzpatrick denies the claim that his spirit was “broken with repeated glasses of champagne” while he acted as the “hostage” MP in 2014 and Carole Walker recalls a “terrifying” encounter between Theresa May’s press secretary and a pack of hacks.
