Londoner’s Diary: Despite the grabs, Aitch is A-OK with TikTok fever

GEN-Z rapper Aitch, whose viral tracks connected him with Stormzy and Ed Sheeran, admits TikTok has changed his industry but does not care. “Labels don’t have love for music anymore. They more have love for the quick numbers. But I don’t let it bother me.”

His short relationship with Chicken Shop Date presenter Amelia Dimoldenberg helped him garner 1.9 million followers on the app but digital fame has consequences. “I’ve got off the bus, gone to get in the venue, and a girl has grabbed me and she just will not let go,” he says. “There could be 70 million people trying to get her off me but she’s not letting go.” To him, it’s part of the job and he won’t be fazed as he heads into his UK and Ireland tour this October. “These people have paid to see me. So whatever the consequences may be ...”

NEWLYWEDS Pixie Lott and Oliver Cheshire joined Kevin and Karlon Bonsu at the Loubi’s On The Beach party, hosted by shoe designer Christian Louboutin at Selfridges yesterday. “It was an amazing day,” Lott said, of her wedding. “We’re going on honeymoon to Sardinia in the morning ”.

Laura Whitmore was off Love Island duties as she DJ’d to open fashion brand IKKS Paris’s new Soho shop, and artist Tia O’Donnell joined actress Ursula Holliday to see DJ Absolute at the Fred Perry: A British Icon exhibition at The Design Museum, Kensington.

EMMA Thompson isn’t one to be shy, but she was laid bare at the UK premiere of Good Luck to You, Leo Grande last night. The dame introduced the film, which features her first nude scene. When she returned on stage later she asked sheepishly: “Do you still respect me?” A shout replied: “Even more, Emma!”
