Welcome back to the Londoner’s Diary. First up we hear from Julian Bird, the chief executive of the Society of London Theatre, who says theatreland is on the brink of an ‘existential crisis’ owing to the lockdown extension. Later on we learn of Andrew Neil’s big dreams of becoming a director and CNN broadcaster Christiane Amanpour reveals why she wants people to know that she has been treated for ovarian cancer. In SW1A Grant Shapps talks about his post-Brexit rocket plans and Sir Edward Leigh is delighted that a wood in his constituency “where 485 years ago 4,000 rebels gathered to fight an authoritarian government” will be untouched by a planning application.
