Tutor profile
John Yorke is one of the most experienced and successful television producers in the UK, having commissioned and developed many of the leading writers in the television industry today. He created the BBC Writers Academy, one of the most successful and influential screenwriting programmes in the world, and is the author of the bestselling book on screenwriting Into the Woods. John has worked as managing director of Company Pictures, which has produced shows as varied as Shameless, Skins, The White Queen and Wolf Hall. Before that, he worked as both head controller of Channel Four drama and controller of BBC drama production, where he worked on popular shows such as EastEnders, Casualty and Holby City, and award-winning programmes including Bodies and Omagh.
