A London woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man’s body was found in a van in Leicester - more than 100 miles away.
Leicestershire Police found the body in a parked vehicle on Garden Street in the city at around 5.30pm on Wednesday.
The van is registered to an address in Hounslow. On Friday, a 39-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder in the west London area and remains in police custody.
The man has not yet been identified and police are investigating how he died.
Metropolitan Police officers have now taken over the investigation and a crime scene is in place at a house in Sutton Dene, Hounslow.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, leading the investigation, said: “I’d like to thank Leicestershire Police for their initial enquiries, which led to a swift arrest.
“As we piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident, we urge the public to come forward with any information, particularly if you recognise the van, or think you may have captured it on a doorbell or dashcam footage travelling to Leicester in the lead up to Wednesday, 27 May.”
