London weather forecast: UK to bask in 17C before temperatures plummet next week

London and the south east are set to bask in warm temperatures of up to 17C before temperatures then plummet next week.

Leading up to the weekend, Londoners will enjoy warmer than average temperatures due to an airflow coming up from the south.

Richard Miles from the Met Office, told the Standard: "It will be nice and mild in London but not as mild in the south east.

On Thursday, temperatures could reach a maximum of 17C with Friday similarly warm with temperatures reaching around 12-13C.

However there is a small chance of drizzle.

"The weekend will be fine turning colder into next week. A southern airflow over the next couple of days will bring the heat."

Saturday and Sunday in the capital will be on average 12-13C.

However according to Mr Miles, "by Wednesday temperatures will be 6C.

He said: "Just under 7C is average for this time of year."

He also warned that Londoners will feel quite a change because of the mildness."

The Met Office have warned that wintry showers are possible in the UK at the end of the month (PA)

Looking ahead to the end of November, the Met Office has warned that it will become considerably colder in the south.

Night frosts are likely and at times could become widespread.

There is a small chance of wintry showers in the UK towards the end of the month in northern and eastern areas.
