Possible alternative routes

Use the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) between Lewisham and Greenwich to head east or towards central London, then switch onto other rail or Tube lines

Use London Buses and other rail or Tube services. For example: bus routes P12, 78, 21, 225, 273, 484 — depending on your start and end point and how far you are from Lewisham.

Use the London Underground network for part of your journey, then connect to other services — you may need to adjust your start or end station accordingly.

Check for replacement bus services run by the rail operator (or local transport authorities) between disrupted segments (e.g. between Lewisham and Hayes or surrounding stations) — these are sometimes provided when rail services are cancelled.

The National Rail website says you can use your ticket for no extra cost on:

  • London Buses between Hayes / Orpington and Lewisham
  • London Trams between Elmers End / Beckenham Junction and East Croydon
  • Thameslink and Southern trains between East Croydon and London Bridge
  • London Underground via all reasonable routes
