London travel news LIVE: Northern line hit with delays over morning rush hour

Rush-hour commuters were faced with disruption on a key London Underground line on Wednesday morning.

The Northern Line suffered severe delays over rush hour between Battersea Power Station and Camden Town via Charing Cross, due to a points failure at Camden Town.

As of 9.50am, Transport for London (TfL) was reporting minor delays on the entire line.

Tree on the line

A tree is currently blocking the line between Isleworth and Syon Lane.

All lines are blocked, and though response teams are on their way to the site, it is not clear when the lines are expected to reopen.

Trains between Hounslow and Brentford may be cancelled or delayed.

Jubilee line reopens

The Jubilee line has now reopened between Wembley Park and Stanmore following the fire alert.

There are now minor delays between Finchley Road and Stanmore, and a good service on the rest of the line.

Bakerloo line resumes good service

There is a good service again on the Bakerloo line following the earlier signal failure at Baker Street.

Jubilee line part suspended

There is now service between Wembley Park and Stanmore on the Jubilee line due to the fire alert.

There are also severe delays between Finchley Road and Wembley Park.

The delays on the Jubilee line are now severe due to the fire alert at Stanmore.

There are now major delays between Wembley Park and Stanmore.

Bakerloo line update

There are now minor delays southbound only on the Bakerloo line due to an earlier signal failure at Baker Street.

There remains a good service on the rest of the line.

There are minor delays on the Jubilee line between Wembley Park and Stanmore due to a fire alert at Stanmore.

There is still a good service on the rest of the line.

Tree blocking the railway at Blackheath

A tree is currently blocking the railway at Blackheath.

Response staff are en-route, but trains that normally run through Blackheath are being diverted via alternative routes.

As such, trains between Lewisham and Eltham may be cancelled or delayed.

The disruption is expected until around 11am.

Disruption between West Ruislip and High Wycombe

A broken down train between Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield means that the line towards Oxford is blocked.

As a result, some trains between West Ruislip and High Wycombe may be cancelled or face severe delays

This is affecting a number of Chiltern Railways services.

Tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on reasonable services from Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Great Western Railway, and London Northwestern Railway

Northern line update

The issues on the Northern line have eased, with the delays now only minor according to TfL.

Passengers have been warned they may still need to change at Camden Town, Kennington or Finchley Central to complete their journeys, however.

Which Northern line trains are running?

Services are running between High Barnet and Morden via the Bank branch and between Edgware and Battersea Power Station via Charing Cross.

Trains are also running between Mill Hill East and Finchley Central.

Commuters have been advised they may have to change at Camden Town, Kennington or Finchley Central to make their journey this morning.

Train carriages have been full due to the reduced service, causing delays and queues at stations across the line.

Severe delays are being reported on the Tube’s Northern line due to a points failure at Camden Town.
