
Westminster Bridge has reopened after a closure due to a “mental-health related incident”, according to the Metropolitan police.
The London Ambulance Service was called out at 1.57am and said a man was treated at the scene and taken to hospital. The police reported no injuries.
The bridge was closed in both directions between the A3211 Victoria Embankment and Lambeth Palace Road from this morning, but reopened at 11.11am.
Twelve bus routes typically running through the area were diverted during the closure.
There is also major travel disruption to trains travelling from Colchester to London Liverpool Street due to a person being hit by a train.
Emergency services were called to Hatfield Peverel station after 9.30 this morning and a person was pronounced dead on the scene.
The emergency services have carried out their work, but train cancellations and delays of up to 40 minutes are expected until 1.00.
The Bakerloo line is part suspended between Queen’s Park and Harrow and Wealdstone while Network Rail fix a signal failure at Harlesden. There are minor delays on the rest of the line due to train cancellations.
There are minor delays on the Central, Bakerloo and District lines.

In a statement the British Transport Police said they were called to Hatfield Peverel station shortly after 9.30am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Officers attended along with paramedics, but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The force said: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Four other passengers in the car - a four year-old-boy and three adults including two men and a woman sustained minor injuries.
All five passengers have been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for further assessment and treatment, with the air ambulance team travelling in the ambulance with the young girl.
The South Central Ambulance Service received multiple 999 calls at around 12.35 with reports that a car had left the M40 between junctions 10 and 11 northbound, rolled over and ended up in a ditch.
Emergency services attended the scene including a rapid response vehicle, four ambulances, the Thames Valley Air Ambulance critical care car.
Police, fire and rescue and highways agency services also responded to the scene.

Update: M4 delays extended
Monday 11 August 2025 08:24 , Charlotte AmbroseDelays on the M4 due to an earlier accident on the eastbound entry slip at junction J13 are expected until 1.15 while police carry out a complex collision investigation.
The road is closed in east between J13 Chieveley Interchange (Newbury, Oxford A34; Chieveley Services) and J12 Theale Interchange (Theale, Reading (W) A4).
Drivers are advised to divert their route to follow the Hollow Circle diversion symbol visible on road signs to leave the M4 at J13.
All lines between London Bridge and Uckfield closed
Monday 11 August 2025 08:16 , Charlotte AmbroseA fault with the signaling system has closed all lines between Crowborough and Uckfield.
No trains will run between Crowborough and Uckfield until Tuesday 12 August.
Trains are unable to run between these stations and will be revised to start and end their journey at Crowborough.
Customers are advised to use alternative routes which are expected to increase journey times by at least 30 minutes.
You can use your ticket to travel at no extra cost on:
- Alternative Southern services to / from Polegate, Lewes and Haywards Heath
- Thameslink services between Haywards Heath and London
- Brighton & Hove Regency Buses on route 29 between Tunbridge Wells, Eridge, Crowborough, Uckfield and Lewes

Rail replacement buses have been requested to run between Uckfield, Buxted, Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells, and between Crowborough, Buxted and Uckfield.
Buses for today are now showing in journey planners.
If you are travelling to a station by car:
Until the end of the day on Monday 11 August, passengers with car park season tickets at Uckfield may use Crowborough, Haywards Heath, or Three Bridges car parks instead.
