London travel news LIVE: Major Islington road shut by police after knife fight

A major London road has been shut by police after a knife brawl which has left a 17-year-old boy fighting for life.

Essex Road in Islington is shut in both directions following the incident around midnight.

The closure runs from Cross Street to the A1200 Canonbury Road (near Essex Road Station).

As a result, the following London bus routes are currently on diversion: 38, 56, 73, 341, and 476.

Train services passing through Essex Road station are operating as normal despite the local road closure.

Delays on the A12

Buses replace late night / early morning trains between Finsbury Park and Stevenage via Hertford North

Engineering work is taking place overnight between Alexandra Palace and Stevenage via Hertford North, closing all lines.

From Wednesday to Friday mornings, the following amended service will operate:

Rail replacement buses will run between Finsbury Park and Hertford North, calling at all stations except Harringay and Hornsey. Customers for Harringay or Hornsey should change at Alexandra Palace for connections.

The 04:24 Stevenage to London Kings Cross service will divert via Welwyn Garden City. A rail replacement bus will run between Stevenage and Alexandra Palace via Hertford North to provide connections.

Disruption between Fareham and Southampton Central expected until 12pm

A fault with the signalling system at Hamble means that services between Fareham and Southampton Central must run at a reduced speed on the line towards Southampton. As a result, trains running through these stations will be delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.
