Long delays are being reported on a motorway close to Stansted Airport, with National Highways warning that the disruption is set to continue and will likely impact rush-hour journeys.
Southbound traffic on the M11 in Essex has been brought to a halt between Junction 7 (Harlow) and Junction 6 (M25 Interchange) following a serious crash in the early hours of Wednesday, February 4.
The incident happened at around 12.50am near the Stansted Airport junction, where a car overturned and came to rest upside down.
National Highways confirmed: "The collision involves a vehicle which has overturned and has come to rest on its roof on the verge adjacent to the carriageway."
Footage from motorway cameras shows extensive queues stretching along the southbound carriageway, where all lanes remain closed.
An exact reopening time has not been given. However, National Highways said in a post on social media platform X that the closure is expected to stay in place for several hours while police carry out investigative work.
Emergency services are currently at the scene, with traffic officers in attendance to help manage the congestion.
