
A stray animal on the railway has caused significant disruption across the London Underground this afternoon.
Both the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines have been partially suspended while staff work to clear the tracks and ensure they are safe to reopen. Jubilee line services are currently halted between Finchley Road and Stanmore, and the Metropolitan line is suspended between Aldgate and Wembley Park.
The incident is also creating knock-on delays across other parts of the network, with TfL advising passengers to check before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys.

Farmers gather their tractors away from the main protest

One user posted on X: “Farmers gather their tractors away from the main protest after a last minute restriction by the Met police prevented them from entering Whitehall.”
There has been speculation about when the restriction came into place, with some suggesting it was a “politically driven” ban which came at the “last minute”.
The Met police released a statement yesterday which set out a series of conditions.
The force said: “While people will still be able to demonstrate, conditions have been put in place to prevent protesters from bringing vehicles, including tractors or other agricultural vehicles to the protest.
“This decision was taken due to the serious disruption they may cause to the local area, including businesses, emergency services and Londoners going about their day.”

However, large numbers of protesters have turned out regardless and a number of arrests have been made.
The Met said it had a number of conversations with the protest organisers and conditions were put in place to prevent people bringing vehicles including tractors and agricultural vehicles.
In a statement, the force said the decision had been taken because of “serious disruption” the vehicles could cause.

TfL says: “There are, on average, 3-5 minutes of additional travel time for buses and road users on Ardleigh Green Road, Gubbins Lane, and Gooshays Drive. There are also, on average 1-3 minutes of additional travel time for buses and road users on North Street heading away from Romford. There will be additional delays on the westbound A13 and M11 southbound during peak periods due to traffic seeking alternative routes.”

Why Tube passengers could still end up paying more despite national rail fares freeze
Wednesday 26 November 2025 07:47 , Arielle DombFears have emerged that London commuters face being “singled out” for fare hikes while the rest of the country enjoys a freeze in the cost of rail travel.
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has announced that “regulated” rail fares will be frozen from March 2026, saving commuters up to £350 a year.
However, City Hall has not announced a similar freeze in Tube fares or rail services operated by Transport for London, including the Elizabeth line and London Overground.

The annual Travel in London report estimates a 12.7 per cent increase in bike journeys, from 1.33m in 2024 to 1.5m in 2025.
