London stabbing: Man rushed to hospital after being knifed outside DLR station

A man has been stabbed in broad daylight outside a DLR station in east London.

West India Quay DLR station - near Canary Wharf - is currently closed with the victim rushed to a major trauma centre following the incident at around 1.50pm today.

Specialist officers are currently at the scene conducting enquiries, a spokesperson for British Transport Police said.

The force said the man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, reports MyLondon.

Paramedics were called to reports of a stabbing outside the station at 1.52pm, with an ambulance crew, a medic in a car, and an incident response officer all present.

Police at the scene say the station will remain closed for a few more hours.

In a statement, BTP said: "British Transport Police were called to West India Quay DLR station at 1.58pm today (3 August) following reports of a stabbing.

"Paramedics also attended, and a man has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"The station is currently closed while specialist officers conduct enquiries. If you witnessed the incident or have any information please contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 272 of 03/08/21."

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 1.52pm today to reports of a stabbing outside West India Quay DLR station.

"We sent an ambulance crew, a medic in a car, and an incident response officer.

"A man was treated at the scene and taken to a major trauma centre as a priority."

The Limehouse Link Tunnel was also shut westbound around the same time due to an incident at the entrance near the station. It is not yet known whether the two incidents are linked.

The tunnel has now reopened.
