London snow in pictures: Londoners share images of capital blanketed by the white stuff... but some are left disappointed by sludge

Londoners have shared their photos of parts of the city covered in a sheet of snow after a winter flurry overnight.

In the north and west of the capital many woke up to a thick coating outside their windows.

Thick layers could be seen on roofs in some areas, while tracks from cars and footprints could be seen in the white along certain streets.

Some people spoke of taking a "snow day" due to the weather, with widespread disruption for commuters in the morning.

Others described it as a "rare sight". But south Londoners were left disappointed as all they got was sludge.

Bikes and cars coated in the snow were also seen around the city.

However, despite the issues it was welcomed by many including pets who were photographed frolicking in the snow.

Southeastern, which runs services in London, Kent and East Sussex, has put its “winter weather timetable” in place.

It warned travellers to expect peak times to be busier than normal.

While there were also delays on the underground due to the weather.

British Airways was also forced to cancel flights to and from Heathrow on Thursday evening.

As the snowstorm began to wreak havoc and more than 90 BA flights from Heathrow were cancelled due to the snow.

On Friday morning passengers arrived to find cancellations and delays had continued.

Some people in the south of London though were left underwhelmed by the amount of snow that fell in their areas.

Many commented on the lacking "snowmageddon", a hashtag coined by many sharing their photos.

There is a yellow warning from the Met Office in place for London until 1pm, with the temperature sitting at around 3C and down to 1C.

However, it will consistently feel sub-zero, with the Met reporting it could feel as cold as -4C.
