A 16-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was injured in a shooting in south-west London.
The Metropolitan Police were called after gunshots were heard in Burfield Close, Wimbledon Road, Wandsworth, at about 9.53pm on Thursday, but found no trace of any suspects or victims.
Paramedics contacted the force 13 minutes later and said they had treated the teenager at a residential address in Blackshaw Road, Tooting, about half a mile away.
He was taken to hospital in west London and remained in a serious condition on Friday morning.
No arrests have been made but officers have urged witnesses or others with information to come forward.
The boy’s family have been informed and officers from the Trident and Area Crime Command have launched an inquiry, the Met said.
A spokesperson said: “The injured male was taken by London Ambulance Service to a west London hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
“His family has been notified. We await further updates.
“Officers from Trident and Area Crime Command investigate.
“At this early stage there have been no arrests. Enquiries continue.”
Last Easter saw a spree of shootings in London.
A 17-year-old girl was gunned down in a drive-by attack and a 16-year-old boy was shot in the face on the same night.
