London set for spring scorcher with temperatures soaring to 17C

Brits could be set for a spring scorcher as temperatures hit 18C in parts of the country on Monday.

The weather is set to become drier and milder in the next few days as high pressure is expected to dominate.

Temperatures could soar to 18C in Leeds – as hot as Spanish holiday favourite Ibiza.

Forecasters have also predicted long sunny spells in London with the mercury rising to 17C.

The sunshine is expected to continue on Tuesday – but clouds could later start to build with possible showers on Wednesday and Thursday.

Met Office spokesman Stephen Dixon told The Sun: “Things are due to settle down for many areas.

“The theme for next week is it’ll be mostly dry with temperatures above average and locally well above average in some spots.

“After what’s been an unsettled spell, it will finally feel like we are getting into the later part of spring, towards more of a summery regime.

“The temperatures will feel quite pleasant.”

Tonight is expected to be a dry evening with scattered cloud and clear spells, especially further eastwards.

Forecasters warn that patchy mist and fog is possible in the early hours, with minimum overnight temperatures of 3C expected.
